Brock Lesnar may be nearing UFC return, according to Dana White

WWE superstar Brock Lesnar may be nearing a return to UFC, according to promotion president Dana White.

Appearing on Kevin Harvick‘s SiriusXM NASCAR Radio show Tuesday night, White said the chances of bringing back the former heavyweight champion are “very, very, very good.”

White posted a photo on social media over the weekend with Lesnar, who was wearing a UFC T-shirt. Lesnar was in Las Vegas for WWE’s Elimination Chamber event.

Last week, White told TMZ, “I’d like to see him come back. When Brock Lesnar won the championship, it was fun.”

Lesnar’s contract with WWE expires later this year. If he wanted to compete again in UFC, he would have to re-enter the USADA’s drug-testing pool and serve the remaining six months of a suspension he received for testing positive for a banned substance before his fight with Mark Hunt at UFC 200.

Lesnar, in addition to his WWE stardom, is one of the most popular fighters in UFC history. He debuted with the promotion in 2008 against Frank Mir — a submission loss — but eventually went on to win the heavyweight title against Randy Couture later that year. Pay-per-view buys of the events Lesnar has headlined have been among the best ever.

Paul Heyman, Lesnar’s on-screen manager, addressed the situation last week with TMZ.

“I think Brock Lesnar does whatever Brock Lesnar wants to do. If Brock Lesnar wants to fight in UFC, Brock Lesnar will fight in UFC. If Brock Lesnar wants to fight in WWE, he will fight in WWE,” Heyman said. “… The time away [from the UFC] actually makes him better because his body gets a chance to heal.”
